April 23rd, 2013… a day to remember as family, friends, city officials and supporters gathered at our new location 969 N. Clinton Ave for the groundbreaking ceremony of the new “El Pilon Criollo“.
What started as an idea grew into a passion after participation as a vendor at the Puerto Rican Festival for 10 years. As we were soon outgrowing the take-out space and hoped to include catering, in 2011 the opportunity to build on a vacant property seconds from our current location that was too great to pass up. Not only for business but also for bettering the community. It would be the first new construction on North Clinton Avenue in more than 12 years. With hard work, determination, amazing supporters, and faith this dream has become a reality with hopes to open mid-June 2013.
The ceremony began with our hearts filled with joy and anticipation as City officials addressed the crowd in the groundbreaking site. After thanking those how helped and guided us in this journey, shovels broke the ground among plenty of cheers, hugs, and photos.
After the ceremony came to an end, we rushed over to the restaurant to get a taste of all the good food that is to come.
Thank you to everyone for all your support. We hope you continue with us on our journey of food, family, and a better community.
